Dr. Mourad ADJAL, holds a State Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Annaba, an MBA in Marketing and Management (ESG – Paris) and an Executive Doctorate in Management from (ISGP – Algiers).
He joined Sonelgaz in 1991, where he held various leadership positions, including Distribution Director in several wilayas. In 2010, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of « Société du Patrimoine Immobilier des Industries Électriques et Gazières » and in 2012, he became General Manager of « Fonds des Œuvres Sociales et Culturelles des Travailleurs des Industries Électriques et Gazières ».
He served as Chairman and CEO of the Electricity and Gas Distribution Company from 2016 until December 2021. In December 2021, he was appointed Chairman and CEO of Sonelgaz, a position he held until September 2025, when he was appointed Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies.
Alongside his professional responsibilities, Mr. Mourad ADJAL has been actively involved in several energy sector organizations. He was President of the Mediterranean Transmission System Operators Association (Med-TSO) and Co-Chair of the Mediterranean Energy and Climate Observatory (OMEC).
He served as Chairman of the Maghreb Electricity Committee (COMELEC) and Chairman of the Algerian Energy Committee (CAE),
By presidential decree, he was appointed as a member of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CNESE), and member of the National Council for Scientific Research and Technology (CNRST).
Dr. Mourad ADJAL was awarded the PAM Sustainability Award during the 19th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, held on February 20, 2025, in Rome, Italy, in recognition of his commitment to strengthening Euro-Mediterranean dialogue and cooperation to promote synergies among electricity network associations in favor of renewable energies.
On June 29, 2025, Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, awarded Mr. Mourad ADJAL the National Order of Merit.
