The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, received on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, who is visiting Algeria in his capacity as President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). The meeting took place in the presence of Ministry executives and representatives of the Institute.

Success of Algerian Expertise in Completing the Gorou Banda Power Plant Project in Niger with a Capacity of 40 MW and Commissioning It Within a Record Timeframe

Acting on instructions from the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, accompanied the Prime Minister, Mr. Seifi Ghrieb, on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, during a working visit to the Republic of Niger to oversee the inauguration ceremony of the Algerian–Nigerien Solidarity Power Plant, with a capacity of 40 MW, completed in the Gorou Banda area of Niamey.

Coordination Meeting Between the Sectors of Energy and Renewable Energies, and Higher Education and Scientific Research

Within the framework of strengthening cooperation among government sectors and elevating the level of coordination between them, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, co-chaired a high-level coordination meeting on Monday, June 1, 2026. This meeting was dedicated to examining several files related to scientific research and discussing mechanisms for their development, particularly concerning research and training activities at the level of the Atomic Energy Commissariat and its affiliated research and training centers.
