The Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies is responsible for implementing the government’s program aimed at achieving the energy transition, through the production of 15,000 megawatts of solar photovoltaic energy. A significant part of this program, amounting to 3,200 megawatts, has been implemented through the construction of electricity generation plants in 12 southern and High Plateau provinces, with capacities ranging between 80 and 220 megawatts.
This project is currently under implementation. In this context, the Ministry, through the Algerian Electricity and Gas Company (Sonelgaz), is responsible for operating renewable energy power generation plants, developing the electrical infrastructure of the fleet, managing power generation facilities that fall within its scope of responsibility, and marketing the produced energy on behalf of Sonelgaz Distribution.
