Within the framework of implementing the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, relating to the development of efforts to expand investment opportunities in the energy sector at the continental level, through a strategic approach aimed at consolidating Algeria’s position as a reliable and active partner in the path of sustainable development in Africa, Dr. Mourad Adjal, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, received, on Monday, 20 October 2025, a parliamentary delegation from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, who is in Algeria on an official working visit aimed at discussing the future of cooperation and exchanges between Algeria and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, particularly in the field of energy.

The meeting opened with a reminder of the depth of the historical and economic relations between the two countries, as well as efforts to expand areas of cooperation through the establishment of effective and fruitful partnerships that meet the aspirations of both governments and peoples.

In his address, Dr. Mourad Adjal, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, spoke about the significant progress achieved by Algeria in terms of the level of public service in the energy sector, in parallel with its substantial activity in exporting energy and equipment related to energy industries (electricity and gas). This is in addition to Algeria’s significant expertise in the fields of training, engineering, and renewable energies. These capabilities, the Minister emphasized, make Algeria a reliable partner, calling for the strengthening and expansion of cooperation with the Federal Republic of Nigeria and support for its economic and energy development in particular.

For his part, Mr. Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, commended Algeria’s efforts in supporting energy development in Africa, especially in the fields of renewable energies and green hydrogen, noting that the main objective of this visit is to explore and discuss available opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two countries in the development of clean energies.
