People's Democratic Republic of Algeria

Working Visit to the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire June 29 and 30, 2026

Speech by Dr. Mourad Adjal Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies

During his meeting with Mr. Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, Ivorian Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy June 30, 2026

Your Excellency Mr. Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Your Excellency Mr. Idriss Bouassila, Ambassador of Algeria to Côte d'Ivoire, Ladies and Gentlemen, members of the Ivorian and Algerian delegations, Distinguished guests,

I would like first of all to express to you, and through you to the government of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, my sincere thanks and gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended to me and my accompanying delegation since our arrival in Abidjan.

I also thank you very much for the reception and attention given to the delegation of experts that preceded my visit today, and for the constructive spirit that prevailed during the discussions between the experts of the two countries over the past few days.

Algeria and Côte d'Ivoire are bound by strong historical ties of friendship and brotherhood, and a shared vision of African integration. Our two countries also share exemplary cooperation relations, and our meeting today bears witness to our joint commitment to working towards translating the political will of our two countries into tangible achievements that benefit our two brotherly peoples.

Your Excellency the Minister,

My visit today falls within the framework of the positive dynamic witnessed in our bilateral cooperation, which has been significantly strengthened over the past few months. Our first meeting, on the occasion of your visit to Algeria last March, provided us with the opportunity to hold fruitful discussions and lay the foundation for building cooperation aimed at developing a strategic and sustainable partnership in the energy and renewable energy sectors.

I have personally followed the discussions that took place between the two sides during the visit of the Ivorian delegation of experts last May, during which Algerian capabilities and expertise across all stages of the energy industry value chain were showcased. It also allowed for an in-depth examination of the opportunities for technical and institutional cooperation between the bodies and companies operating in the energy sector in both countries. These constructive discussions resulted in defining a common vision for the strategic directions of our future cooperation, which primarily aims to meet the energy needs of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.

I am pleased to co-preside with you today over the culmination of the diligent work accomplished by our joint teams through the signing of a cooperation agreement between the governments of our two countries in the field of energy and renewable energies. This agreement reflects our shared commitment to developing a mutually beneficial energy partnership, and it establishes the legal and institutional framework that will govern the cooperation activities and projects planned for implementation between our two countries in the energy sector.

Your Excellency the Minister,

Based on its considerable expertise in the field of energy and renewable energies, Algeria renews to you today its full readiness to exchange expertise and experiences with the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, in the spirit of African solidarity and South-South cooperation.

I am confident that this agreement will represent a decisive step in strengthening bilateral cooperation relations, and that it will be followed in the near future by the implementation of concrete cooperation programs and projects that will bring benefit and prosperity to our two brotherly countries.

Thank you again for your warm welcome and your kind attention.
