The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, today, Monday, November 17, 2025, in the presence of the Ministers of Industry, Knowledge Economy, and Startups and Small Enterprises, presided over the official opening of the first edition of the international fair “Electricity Expo 2025”, organized for the first time in Algeria under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies. The economic event is hosted at the “Kasbah” pavilion of the Exhibition Palace from November 17 to 19.

In his opening speech, the Minister considered this fair, which brings together more than 40 participants, an opportunity for dialogue and exchange of expertise on current topics, such as new digital technologies, sustainable solutions, and developments in electrical equipment. He added that it allows all stakeholders at the institutional and industrial levels to share their experiences and ideas on challenges and solutions that ensure the development and economic growth of the electrical industry.

He emphasized that organizing this important economic event aligns with the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, regarding the promotion of the electrical industries sector, enhancing its position, and exploring partnership opportunities to develop its activities, aiming to improve the competitiveness of national production in this strategic sector.

Dr. Mourad Adjal explained that the ongoing energy transition is an opportunity to make electricity a driver of development and a lever for economic and social growth, especially through the creation of wealth-generating industries and jobs, and by encouraging investment in new and promising sectors. To support and ensure the success of the national renewable energy and energy efficiency program, the Minister added that it is now essential to cooperate with all relevant stakeholders to strengthen industrial capacities in this sector. He highlighted the Sonelgaz Group model in this area, which, according to him, has qualified more than 164 electrical equipment manufacturers and 34 gas equipment manufacturers since 2005 through its laboratories. He pointed out that today’s challenge is to raise the national integration rate above 50% across most of the value chain to enable Algeria’s access to foreign markets.

In the same context, the Minister of Industry, Mr. Yahia Bachir, emphasized the importance of this major economic event, which gathers more than forty participants, underlining the significance of the energy and renewable energies sector in driving the country’s economic development as a backbone of the economy and industry.

For his part, the Minister of Knowledge Economy and Startups and Small Enterprises, Mr. Noureddine Wadih, praised the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies for sponsoring this important economic event, which, according to him, gave startups and small enterprises the opportunity to participate in the first edition of “Electricity Expo 2025”, reflecting the government’s program to encourage youth and small businesses in the energy and renewable energies sector.

It is worth noting that the event will feature participants, operators, and experts in the field of energy and renewable energies, who will discuss various sector-related topics within the workshops and roundtable program.
