Seeking to expand into European markets and strengthen Algeria’s external cooperation, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, today, Thursday, November 20, 2025, received a delegation from the Federal State of Bavaria, Germany, headed by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy, Mr. Tobias Gutehart. The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, was dedicated to exploring opportunities for cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Bavaria.
In his remarks during the meeting, attended by senior officials from the Ministry, Dr. Mourad Adjal highlighted the depth of Algerian-German relations, describing them as strong, and expressed Algeria’s interest in expanding cooperation across various economic sectors, particularly energy. He noted Algeria’s significant energy mix, which positions it as a strong energy source for Europe and a reliable energy partner. After reviewing Algeria’s energy production capacities, including conventional and renewable sources, as well as its nuclear and green hydrogen capabilities, the Minister discussed major energy projects underway in Algeria, such as the 15,000 MW renewable energy program and the North-South electricity interconnection project, which will enable the export of clean energy to Europe. He also stressed Algeria’s interest in establishing further partnerships with German operators across different economic sectors.
For his part, Mr. Tobias Gutehart expressed Germany’s interest in cooperating with Algeria by launching strong and mutually beneficial economic partnerships in the energy sector, noting the growing energy demand in Europe and the potential to transfer Germany’s advanced technologies to Algeria in a win-win collaboration.
The meeting concluded with an agreement that this encounter would serve as a starting point for a cooperation project between the two parties, including organizing exchange sessions to study opportunities and areas for partnership.
