The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, today, Thursday, November 20, 2025, received a delegation of managing executives from “Holcim Algeria,” an operator in innovative and sustainable construction solutions, headed by Mr. Abdelnour Swakri. The meeting was dedicated to discussing the decarbonization project in cement production operations.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry and attended by a number of main executives, Dr. Mourad Adjal emphasized that the Algerian government and the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies give great attention to renewable energies and investors in this field, on which Algeria heavily relies to access foreign markets, particularly in supporting low-carbon footprint industries. Within this context, Holcim Algeria presents its decarbonization project, which the Minister considered an important file requiring the contribution of several sectors to support and accompany it.

The Minister also stressed the necessity of involving various sectors in studying and reviewing the project submitted by Holcim Algeria, noting that the Ministry is fully aware of the environmental challenges and the economics of decarbonization. For his part, Mr. Abdelnour Swakri spoke about the project’s importance in facilitating access to European markets and reducing import costs.
