Under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Mr. Seifi Ghrib, and at the invitation of the Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Ms. Kawther Krikou, Dr. Mourad Adjal, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, participated on December 21, 2025, alongside a number of fellow ministers, in the opening ceremony of the National Study Meeting on Quality of Life. The event was held at the Moufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture under the slogan “National Achievements with Developmental Stakes.”

In his address delivered during the meeting—which witnessed broad participation from members of the accredited diplomatic corps as well as officials from public institutions and bodies—Dr. Mourad Adjal highlighted the importance of this gathering devoted to the theme of “Quality of Life.” He pointed out that quality of life is a living indicator and a fundamental criterion for the success of public policies, as well as a decisive measure of the effectiveness of economic, social, and environmental choices. This comprehensive vision is based on ensuring decent living conditions in all aspects of citizens’ daily lives, through the provision of basic services, the protection of natural resources, and the guarantee of a clean environment for future generations.

In this context, the Minister explained the role of the energy and renewable energies sector in achieving this societal and developmental program, emphasizing that the energy and renewable energies sector constitutes a key driver of development and a lever for improving citizens’ quality of life by ensuring secure, reliable, and sustainable energy that forms the foundation for all sectors.

The Minister also stressed that Algeria has achieved significant national gains in the field of energy, thanks to the forward-looking vision and sound guidance of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. These gains have been realized through diversifying the energy mix, investing in new and renewable energies (solar energy, hydrogen, etc.), and improving energy efficiency, thereby contributing to environmental protection, job creation, innovation stimulation, and the strengthening of energy sovereignty.

In this context, the Minister praised the step taken to establish an interministerial committee bringing together all concerned sectors to prepare the national strategy for quality of life. He described this initiative as an important milestone in the government’s approach to promoting quality of life as a comprehensive national project. He emphasized that quality of life is not a sectoral objective, but rather a shared national project that requires the concerted efforts of all stakeholders—institutions, the private sector, civil society, and citizens—in order to build a better present and ensure a sustainable future for our children.
