Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Discusses ways of Cooperation with the Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Geology of the Republic of Chad

As part of efforts to strengthen external cooperation and explore ways to expand Algeria’s international partnerships, particularly at the continental level, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, received on December 17, 2025, at the headquarters of the ministry, Ms. Ndolindodji Alex Naimbay, Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Geology of the Republic of Chad.

The latter is on an official visit to Algeria at the head of a high-level delegation comprising officials from chadian sectoral institutions. During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to advance cooperation and partnership between Algeria and the Republic of Chad in line with the will of the leaderships and peoples of both countries.

Following the official reception, a working session was held in the presence of the representative of Chadian diplomacy in Algeria, Mr. Mahamat Ali Ahmed, as well as a number of senior officials from the Ministry. On this occasion, the two sides highlighted the depth of bilateral relations between Algeria and Chad and discussed ways to strengthen and expand areas of bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and renewable energies.

In his address, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, reviewed Algeria’s capabilities and expertise in the field of energy and renewable energies, particularly in the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity, as well as in gas transmission and distribution. He also referred to Algeria’s significant experience in the electrical and gas industries, including the manufacturing of gas turbines, in addition to services and training. The Minister further highlighted Algeria’s expertise in nuclear energy, which the country is directing toward investment in nuclear medicine. He also spoke about Algeria’s experience in renewable energies and green hydrogen, as well as the diversified energy mix that Algeria enjoys.

In this context, the Minister reaffirmed Algeria’s strong will to advance cooperation with the Republic of Chad and to enhance exchanges in the field of energy and renewable energies in a manner that makes such cooperation more effective and dynamic.

For her part, Ms. Ndolindodji Alex Naimbay expressed great interest in the Algerian model of energy development, voicing Chad’s desire to benefit from Algeria’s expertise and experience in developing the energy and renewable energies sector. She emphasized that the Algerian experience is the closest to Chad’s economic and developmental realities, and she outlined a number of challenges facing Chad in this field, particularly the weakness of the electricity grid.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish joint working committees between the concerned ministries to examine, study, and prepare a draft memorandum of understanding to be signed by both parties. This memorandum will serve as the cornerstone for implementing a roadmap that will inject real momentum into sustainable cooperation and partnership between the two countries.

It is worth noting that the Chadian delegation also paid a working visit to the headquarters of the electricity system operator. During this visit, the Minister expressed great interest in the Algerian experience in managing the electricity system and in the advanced technologies adopted by this entity, which she described as exemplary.
