The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies participates in a high-level working visit to the Republic of Chad

The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, arrived on a working visit in the company of the Minister of state, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines Mr. Mohamed Arkab, on January 20, 2026 at N’Djamena International Airport, capital of the Republic of Chad. The delegation included the Minister of Industry, Chief Executive Officer of Sonatrach Group, Chief Executive Officer of Naftal, Chief Executive Officer of Algerian Cement Industrial Group (GICA), as well as senior executives from the hydrocarbons, mines, energy and industry sectors. The delegation was welcomed by the Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Geology of the Republic of Chad, Ms. Ndolenodji Alixe Naimbaye, and His Excellency the Ambassador of Algeria to the Republic of Chad.

This visit is in furtherance of Algeria’s participation as guest of honour at the International Exhibition of Mines Quarries and Hydrocarbons of Chad (SEMICA TCHAD 2026). The Algerian delegation is taking part in this important event held under the high patronage of the President of Chad, Mr. Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, from January 21 to 23, 2026 in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena.

In the context of this visit, Dr. Mourad Adjal met on Wednesday, January 21,2026 with the Minister of Water and Energy of the Republic of Chad. During the meeting, he delivered an overview on Algeria’s energy sector, particularly in the fields of electricity and gas, highlighting industrial capacities across the entire value chain from turbines to low-voltage switchgear. He also outlined renewable energies sector’s expertise in human resource development, and its proven experience in the implementation of energy facilities, whether in production, transmission or distribution.

The Minister further emphasized Algeria readiness to share its expertise and technical skills within the framework of win-win partnership between the two countries. For his part, the Chadian Minister expressed his country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Algeria in this field.

As part of the visit agenda, the opening of the Algerian pavilion took place under the supervision of the Chadian Prime Minister, Mr. Allamaye Halina, representing the President of the Republic of Chad, in the presence of the Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Geology of Chad, Ms. Ndolenodji Alixe Naimbaye, the Minister of state, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, accompanied by The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, and the Minister of Industry, Mr. Yahia Bachir, in the presence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Algeria to the Republic of Chad and members of the accompanying official delegation.

The Algerian pavilion provided an opportunity to highlight national capacities and Algerian expertise in the fields of hydrocarbons and mines. Algeria’s participation through this pavilion reflects its commitment to sharing its experience with the sisterly Republic of Chad, strengthening partnerships and investments, and supporting south-south cooperation. This contributes to the promotion of the hydrocarbons and mines sectors as a key driver to sustainable economic and social development on the African continent. ;
