Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Discusses Expanding Cooperation with His Counterpart, Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire

In implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at promoting and expanding international partnership horizons and strengthening cooperation at the continental level, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, received today, Saturday, 28 March 2026, the Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Mr. Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, current Chair of the Ministerial Meeting of the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO), who is on an official working visit to Algeria from 28 to 31 March.

This meeting, held at the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies with the presence of the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Algeria, members of the Ivorian delegation, and several senior officials of the ministry, falls within the framework of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and opening broader partnership horizons, particularly in the fields of energy and renewable energies. It also provided an opportunity to review the current status and prospects of cooperation between Algeria and Côte d’Ivoire.

At the opening of his remarks, Dr. Mourad Adjal expressed his pride in conveying the greetings of the President of Côte d’Ivoire, Mr. Alassane Ouattara, to the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirming Algeria’s commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation to levels consistent with efforts to support energy development in Africa and enhance regional energy security.

The Minister confirmed Algeria’s readiness to establish strategic and reliable partnerships over significant timeframes, particularly in electricity production, transmission, and distribution, manufacturing of electrical equipment, training, and renewable energies, within a win–win approach.

He reiterated Algeria’s readiness to support Côte d’Ivoire by transferring technical expertise in various energy fields, thereby supporting the sister country’s efforts to develop its energy sector and strengthen national capacities.

For his part, the Ivorian Minister praised Algeria’s level of expertise and professionalism in the energy sector and expressed satisfaction with the range of solutions and proposals presented by the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies during the discussion regarding several challenges. He also affirmed his country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Algeria, particularly in electricity production, transmission, and distribution, supporting Ivorian energy networks, as well as in related industrial sectors.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold technical meetings between working teams from both sides to prepare in-depth studies on potential cooperation and partnership opportunities, ensuring their practical implementation under optimal conditions and within the shortest possible timeframe.
