Dr. Mourad Adjal, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, received at his ministry Mr. Farid Ghazali, the newly appointed Secretary-General of the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO). The meeting was dedicated to discussing avenues for cooperation and partnership between the energy and renewable energy sector and this important regional organization.

During the meeting, attended by several senior ministry officials, Mr. Farid Ghazali presented the main axes of the organization’s upcoming roadmap, focusing on enhancing African-to-African cooperation, particularly in ensuring the self-sufficiency of regional markets. According to Mr. Ghazali, the implementation of this strategy requires the active participation of all energy stakeholders in Algeria, especially the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies.

Minister Dr. Mourad Adjal congratulated Mr. Ghazali on his appointment, expressing pride in seeing Algerian expertise reach such prominent international positions. He also welcomed collaboration with this regional organization, emphasizing the need to expand its activities to include energy and renewable energies, thereby opening broader opportunities for cooperation with the sector and strengthening Algeria’s position as a reliable and strategic energy partner.

The Minister highlighted Algeria’s substantial capabilities and expertise across its energy institutions, positioning the country to access and capture significant shares of the African market as a partner capable of meeting the continent’s energy needs across the full value chain. He noted the important role that Sonelgaz International can play in reinforcing this cooperation, given its ability to enable both public and private Algerian companies to enter foreign markets, particularly in Africa, through genuine and strategic partnerships.

In conclusion, the Minister reaffirmed that the Ministry’s doors remain open to all projects and initiatives that enhance Algeria’s continental standing, particularly those aligned with the country’s foreign policy objectives.
