The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, and the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, received on Wednesday, 1 April 2026, at the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines, the President of the National Council of Regions and Governorates of the Republic of Tunisia, Mr. Imed Derbali, who is on an official visit to Algeria leading a parliamentary delegation.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of State to the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines in charge of Mines, Ms. Karima Bekir Taffer, the Vice-President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Rabah Baghali, and several senior officials from both ministries.
Discussions focused on reviewing the current status and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, hydrocarbons, mines, and renewable energies, described as historic and deep, and exploring ways to enhance and develop them, particularly in hydrocarbon production and marketing, electricity generation and transmission, new and renewable energies, and the energy transition.
The two sides also examined the progress and development of joint projects between the two countries, notably the project to strengthen electricity interconnection between Algeria and Tunisia, as well as potential cooperation in the mining sector, particularly in the exploitation and processing of phosphate products, and the enhancement of expertise exchange and training.
On this occasion, both the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, and the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies presented the main lines of their sector development programs, expressing their readiness to strengthen and promote cooperation between the institutions of the two countries in these fields, in line with the will of the two national leaders and reflecting the strong political commitment to establishing an effective and sustainable economic partnership.
