In implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at strengthening brotherly relations, cooperation, and solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, received on 4 June 2026 the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation in the fields of electricity, energy, and renewable energies, as well as ways to strengthen partnerships between institutions of both countries.

During the meeting, attended by several senior officials from the ministry, Dr. Mourad Adjal reviewed the various cooperation initiatives launched recently, particularly joint technical meetings between experts, exchange visits, and field assessment missions carried out by Sonelgaz teams to identify the needs of Syria’s electricity sector, in addition to proposed projects and programs in training, expertise transfer, maintenance, and engineering studies.

Dr. Mourad Adjal reaffirmed that Algeria, under the guidance of the President of the Republic, attaches special importance to supporting the Syrian Arab Republic and accompanying its reconstruction and economic development efforts, particularly in strategic sectors related to energy, electricity, and electrical equipment.

For his part, the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed his appreciation for Algeria’s supportive positions toward Syria and welcomed Algeria’s readiness to assist the Syrian energy sector during the coming phase. He also emphasized his country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Algeria.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue coordination and consultation between the relevant institutions and accelerate joint efforts to implement agreed cooperation projects, reflecting the shared political will of both countries and reinforcing brotherly ties and cooperation. In this context, preparations will continue for the Algerian–Syrian Summit, during which several cooperation-related issues will be discussed.
