Within the framework of strengthening cooperation among government sectors and elevating the level of coordination between them, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, co-chaired a high-level coordination meeting on Monday, June 1, 2026. This meeting was dedicated to examining several files related to scientific research and discussing mechanisms for their development, particularly concerning research and training activities at the level of the Atomic Energy Commissariat and its affiliated research and training centers.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, in the presence of the Commissioner for Atomic Energy and several executives and officials from both sectors.
During the meeting, Mr. Mourad Adjal affirmed that the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies attaches special importance to priority files related to the development of peaceful uses of nuclear energy. This is in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, especially in fields with a strategic dimension, foremost among them the medical field. He explained that achieving these goals requires strengthening the scientific research and specialized training system, as they are fundamental pillars for keeping pace with scientific and technological developments in this field.
The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies also highlighted the importance of benefiting from the capabilities provided by the higher education and scientific research sector. This ensures the provision of an appropriate scientific and academic environment for researchers and experts working within the Atomic Energy Commissariat, and contributes to the promotion of their research activities and the valorization of their results.
For his part, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research welcomed the vision presented by the energy and renewable energies sector, affirming his sector's readiness to accompany various initiatives aimed at developing scientific research and specialized training in fields related to nuclear energy and its peaceful applications. This will allow researchers and supervisors to work in an academic and scientific framework that stimulates innovation and knowledge production.
The meeting culminated in an agreement to continue coordination and consultation between the two sectors. It was also agreed to re-examine the status of research activities at the Atomic Energy Commissariat and launch in-depth studies in this regard, while working to identify the most appropriate organizational and scientific mechanisms to enhance the productivity of scientific research, placing it within optimal frameworks that ensure better results and serve national objectives in this strategic field.
