Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Receives the Vice Minister and Executive Deputy Director of the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, and Director of the Office of the Central Leading Group for Rural Work of the People's Republic of China

The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, received on Saturday, 27 June 2026, Mr. Han Wenxiu, Vice Minister, Executive Deputy Director of the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, and Director of the Office of the Central Leading Group for Rural Work of the People's Republic of China.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry's headquarters in the presence of senior officials from the sector, Dr. Mourad Adjal reaffirmed the excellent relations between Algeria and China in the energy sector. He highlighted the success achieved by Chinese companies as strategic partners, particularly in renewable energy infrastructure projects. He noted that the construction of the largest photovoltaic power plant in Algeria, located in Fouila, stands as clear evidence of this successful cooperation.

The Minister also stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation to benefit from China's expertise in carbon footprint reduction and the development of green hydrogen as an alternative energy source. He also emphasized cooperation in the training of specialized human resources and called for accelerating the implementation of the Tébessa combined-cycle power plant and the Birine project.

For his part, Mr. Han Wenxiu welcomed the Minister's proposals and expressed China's readiness to strengthen cooperation, particularly in wind and solar energy, as well as in the manufacturing of solar panel components and related equipment.

Both sides agreed to create all the necessary conditions to further advance cooperation in energy and renewable energies on the basis of a mutually beneficial (win-win) partnership, in line with the vision of the Presidents of Algeria and China.
