The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, received on Sunday, 26 July 2026, Mr. Dario Guissi, CEO of the Argentine company INVAP, which specializes in advanced technologies in the field of nuclear energy for medical applications. The company designs and manufactures equipment primarily intended for nuclear energy applications in medical treatment and alternative energy.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the presence of a number of senior officials of the sector, Dr. Mourad Adjal once again highlighted the strong relations between Algeria and Argentina in the fields of energy and renewable energies. This is reflected in the successful cooperation with the international company INVAP, which has been a partner of the Algerian Atomic Energy Commission (COMENA) for 40 years of joint work, particularly on nuclear energy infrastructure projects for medical applications. Among these projects is the construction of the “Draria” facility for the production of radioisotopes, which are used as tracers in medical imaging or in radiotherapy to target and destroy cancer cells, and which was at the heart of the discussions held during the meeting.

The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies stressed the importance of expanding the scope of cooperation between the two countries through COMENA and INVAP, particularly by benefiting from Argentina’s expertise in developing radioisotope production capabilities, with a view to establishing this activity in Algeria in the future.

As part of the follow-up of the works on the Draria facility being constructed in Algeria, Dr. Mourad Adjal called for an acceleration of the pace of work, strict compliance with the scheduled completion period, and regular monitoring of the project.

For his part, Mr. Dario Guissi, CEO of INVAP, praised the successful cooperation between Algeria and Argentina in this field and welcomed Dr. Mourad Adjal’s proposals and the prospects for future cooperation, particularly with regard to radioisotope production.
