In the context of the growing momentum in Algerian-African cooperation relations, and in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. AbdelmadjidTebboune, aimed at making cooperation with African countries a driver of shared development, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Dr. Mourad Adjal, held a videoconference meeting on Monday, 27 July 2026, with the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy of the Republic of Mozambique, Mr. Estêvão Tomás Rafael Pale, in the presence of officials from both ministries.

The meeting represented a new milestone in the process of consultation and coordination between the two countries. Both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for its development, while reaffirming their satisfaction with the growing momentum in Algerian-Mozambican relations. The two ministers also devoted a significant part of their discussions to assessing the progress made in implementing the outcomes of the working visit paid by the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies to the Republic of Mozambique in October 2025. In this regard, they reviewed the progress of the various projects under implementation, particularly the project for the construction of a power generation plant with a capacity of 2 × 20 MW. They also followed up on the procedures related to establishing the legal framework governing this project and discussed ways to accelerate the completion of the various technical and institutional procedures required for its implementation.

The meeting also addressed prospects for expanding areas of cooperation to cover the various activities related to the energy sector value chain. Both sides welcomed the continuation of consultations on the energy needs expressed by the Mozambican side, stressing the importance of adopting a practical approach, starting with the organization of videoconference meetings between experts and relevant institutions, in order to identify priority projects and establish mechanisms for their implementation through a gradual approach that meets the development objectives of both countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers renewed their determination to pursue coordination and consultations and to strengthen communication between the sector’s authorities and institutions in both countries, with a view to ensuring the effective implementation of the agreed projects and working towards the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding that will provide a framework for the future of cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy.
